Maintenance and Extension of a Workover Rig


A Canadian rig, which has been operating for many years, got a general overhaul at SATVIA GmbH. This happened in a very short periode of time.

In addition the customer also requested the extension / integration of several new devices, for instance driller cabin, wind collector, camera system, footbridges and railings.

Our staff demonstrated once more their competence in updating all types of vertical rigs.

Drilling technology at bauma 2010

STREICHER Group introduced drilling technology at bauma Munich for the first time

Quality, innovation, and reliability - with these strenghs and synergistic effects within the group of companies STREICHER provide widespread competence in the field of horizontal and vertical rigs.

Using the example of TB 1800 SATVIA GmbH as subsidiary enterprise introduced possibilities of vertical deep drilling technology at the bauma ground.

With its height of 38 m the workover rig is a distinctive eye-catcher at the open-air ground F6. There were demonstrations at our stand several times a day.

A 7-axles truck guarantees a fast and flexible applicability. Due to its compact dimensions driving on public roads or waste area is no problem. That results not only in a lower time budget but also in reduction of transport and assembling costs for the customers.

But we did not save money developing the type TB 1800 to realize its high working stress.
This rig reaches full power whether the temperature at minus 40 °C in Sibiria or plus 50 °C in North Africa. The maximum drilling depth is about 3.200 m.

SATVIA possesses - as the hole STREICHER Group - comprehensive know-how not only regarding development, engineering design, and production but also in start-up and maintenance of rigs as well as in operators´ training.

Girls´ Day in Gommern

This year our enterprise took part in the nationwide Girls´ Day again.
Young potential professionals received a first impression of choices of employment or study.

Three adolescents from Magdeburg and Pretzien showed their interest during firm presentation and on-site inspection as well as during surveying the workstations. They were especially impressed to get a very close experience of a workover rig.

At last the pupils could test our 3D-CAD software. They experienced how component parts are designed and how devices are joined together respectively.

bauma Munich was a great success - Company strategy okay

Already two days after starting the bauma all expectations of the business management were exceeded. The vertical drilling rigs from Gommern attracted worldwide attention by numerous experts. So SATVIA GmbH took a volume of orders of about 30 Million Euro back home.

The trend using earth heat tubes for energy recovery is going on. But there is also a demand for mobile drilling rigs with pull up forces between 160 and 200 tons for oil- and natural gas fields, usable under extremely climatic conditions.
For a long time the enterprise have possessed the corresponding know-how and regular customers for these drilling processes.

By the way:
The vertical drilling rig type VB 600 Sx with its 80 tons-pull up force was the biggest vertical drilling rig at the bauma!

Workover rig of superlatives - SATVIA GmbH rises to a challenge

Designing engineers at SATVIA work extremely fast developing a new 200-tons-Workover rig. This hydraulically working drilling rig will be a superlative one, not only in view of the extremely climatic operation conditions.

With its maximal hook loading of 200 tons, a maximal crown capacity of 255 t (quintuple sheaving) and a drill depth of about 4.800 m this Workover rig represents the highest level of development.

The mast height of 36 m is sufficient for double-drill pipes (18 m).
The rig will be installed on a 6-axled Mercedes-Benz truck "ACTROS" with 4 steerable axles.

Earth heat tubes up to date - special drilling rigs designed and manufactured by SATVIA

Today energy costs are increasing continuously and the energy demand is enormous. That is why heat extraction by earth tubes becomes more and more important. Many private clients are interested in this way of energy extraction which is nearly maintenance-free and absolutely eco-friendly. While in 2003 everybody who was interested in earth heat tubes became a target of ridicule, nowadays there is really a boom.

The earth heat tubes reach a depth of about 100 metres. Brine is flowing in them which absorbs the heat from ground to give it to the pump.

To fulfil this trend of the building industry SATVIA GmbH developed a small drilling rig especially for earth heat tubes. This rig was designed as a crawler.

SATVIA GmbH on the road to success - noticable extended staff

A solidness of management and the continuous boom regarding the extraction of raw material / energy fields have been the reasons for further extension in Gommern since September 2006.

The decision to expand our production line with Workover rigs for the oil- and natural gas industry was really at the right time. Today our engineers are preoccupied with the new types TB 1600 and TB 1800. These innovative rigs find a growing interest also at the international market.

On the basis of the excellent order situation several appointments of engineers and industrial employees could be realized. A fourth production hall is available now.
